Description

Grazers Red Lily Beetle coats the leaf and while being effective against damage also benefits the plant due to its unique formula. If you do decide to use pesticides, the shorter persistence products (that are usually certified for organic growing) are likely to be less damaging to non-target wildlife than those with longer persistence and/or systemic action. Once you have removed all sight of the beetles, then you can start spraying ensuring to spray under the leaves as well. The spray makes the foliage taste bitter so the lily beetles won't like the taste. I would advise spraying your lilies once a week and spray again if it rains. Hope this helps. To prevent Lily Beetles from damaging your lilies, we recommend using the Lily Beetle Prevention Sprayor you can make up your own with the Concentrate. This Spray (Grazers G4) will also stimulate growth of your lilies.

Lilies prefer to be planted in a location with at least half a day’s full sunshine, if it’s a bit too shady they will lean their stems towards the sun. If planting in pots, plant 3 bulbs in a 10-14" 'patio type' pot using good-quality, multi-purpose compost. All four products in the Grazers range are in liquid form and based around the plant nutrient calcium (the CaCl form), combined with a natural adjuvant of a plant extract to improve its plant interaction. The content of individual Grazers products differ in the amounts of these co-formulants, each depending on the circumstance, so orientated towards the pests’ grazing method and the plant type. When applied to leaves and stems, the calcium is also absorbed into plant cells resulting in a “plant mediated effect” of making the plant unappealing to pests. The newest leaf or two formed after Grazers application is expected to be assisted by the translocated calcium. Always follow the instructions on the products. For edible plants, make sure the food plant is listed on the label and follow instructions on maximum number of applications, spray interval and harvest interval.

Pesticides The RHS recommends that you don't use pesticides. Most pesticides (including organic types) reduce biodiversity, including natural enemies, impact soil health and have wider adverse environmental effects. Congratulations on your gold medal, which was well deserved. I watched your presentation on the BBC and absolutely loved your gorgeous lilies. Unfortunately my beautiful lilies have been decimated by the wretched lily bettle. I was even thinking about getting rid of all my bulbs after experiencing this problem for the last 3 years. The pesticides listed are legally available in the UK. This information is provided to avoid misuse of legal products and the use of unauthorised and untested products, which potentially has more serious consequences for the environment and wildlife than when products are used legally. If planting in pots, it may be an idea to tilt the pots on their side in the winter to prevent waterlog. The lily beetle ( Lilioceris lilii) is the number one pest of lilies. It can reduce a lily plant to nothing in just a few days, so needs to be controlled.

It is ideal to use in gardens, allotments, and areas where children and pets are playing. Grazers has appeal for both the garden lovers who do not want their plants destroyed, and the environmentalists who detest chemical damage to the environment. Grazers is NOT a pesticide and is therefore safe for pets, wildlife, and the environment. It is an effective and easy solution to prevent damage caused by Red Lily Beetle on Lilies, Fritillaries and other members of the Liliaceae family. Ideal to use in gardens, allotments, and areas where children and pets are playing. Grazers Red Lily Beetle spray works by coating the leaf to prevent damage, but it also benefits the plant due to its unique formula.

When diluted (350ml), this concentrate is effective against Red Lily Beetle. Helping Lilies and Fritillaries to help themselves, whilst safe to wildlife. Keep lily beetles at bay with this Wildlife-friendly, Eco-friendly, Child and Pet-friendly, all-natural lily Beetle prevention solution. Use on Lilies and Fritillaria as soon as you see signs of growth. Keep Lily Beetle at bay with this Wildlife-friendly, Eco-friendly, Child and Pet-friendly, all-natural lily Beetle prevention solution 'Grazers'. Grazers will also strengthen and stimulate the plant growth. You can feed your lilies with a Tomato Feed to stimulate and strengthen your lilies when you start to see signs of growth. Make up your tomato feed with half the recommended dilution (written on the instructions on the bottle) and feed once every 3 weeks. After a few years of flowering, you may find your Roselilyproduces less blooms, it may be time to lift your bulbs and divide them by breaking off the bulblets. All the bulbs will then need replanting. Earlier this week I noticed 3/4 lines of plants which had been badly eaten as they started to sprout. (No or very little leaves left) I used the last of my spray to cover them. J. Coulson These bulbs where amazing such a delight, I planted all 10 bulbs in one large container. Should I leave them in or take them out and let them dry out, protect from frost and replant next year.

Easy to use spray which coats the leaf and while being effective against damage also benefits the plant due to its unique formula. When sprayed proactively every 7-10 days upon first sighting (from March onwards depending on the region and climate) plants continue to thrive, eggs are less likely to be laid and therefore larvae aren’t a problem either. L. Campbell I bought several Isabella lillies 2 years ago and planted them in pots in the compost suggested. The first year they were a little taller than the 100cm mentioned. I left them in the pots and last year they grew to about 130-150cm and the flowers weren’t as impressive. Please can you advise what I can do to get the best show this year. Thank you. Lilies like a cold dormant phase throughout the winter so they don't need lifting. However, do ensure they have adequate drainage and do not get waterlogged as this will cause the bulbs to rot. This specific mix of calcium and adjuvant only works to keep away grazing pests when it is applied to the photosynthesising leaves, stems or flowers of any plant, thereby interacting with the plant’s own metabolic processes.Adult beetles emerge from the soil from late March to May, laying eggs from April until September. They overwinter in sheltered places, often in the soil but not always near lilies.
