With the house falling down around them, and the last of her savings fast disappearing, Isabel turns to her neighbours, not knowing that her mere presence there has stirred up long-standing obsessions.

She was completely useless, she couldn't handle doing the most basic things without either screwing it up or whinging about it. It has been quite a while since I have picked up a book by this author, my last one not being my greatest love.Her 15 years old Kitty misses her friends from her old place and Thierry is still keeping his silence after dealing with tragedy of losing his father. It has quite sinister undertones in places and the character of Matt is especially well created - starting out as the local friendly builder and gradually getting darker and more threatening as the story evolves. Kitty has to grow up fast as she tries to pitch in and help, but Thierry has had serious issues ever since the death of his father. Although some of the characters were hard to like and I was quite astounded that Isabel was quite slow to know what was going on around her.

Yes, this is the same Matt who desperately wants The Spanish House for himself and although he is instantly attracted to Isabel he is determined to sabotage the house (literally, with shoddy worksmanship) while charging her extortionate amounts for the privilege. Mir gefällt das Buch, da ich dieses mal wieder sofort in der Geschichte drin war und einfach nur weiterlesen wollte.

I normally take to one or more of her characters, especially the main players, however, I didn't find this the case in this story.
