Each teaching sequence is based around a core text, and follows a three part structure: Learning About the Text, Practising Writing and Independent Writing. Note: The content of the Pupil Books is suitable for children aged 4+ up to approximately 9 years of age (when used for intervention purposes).

Pupil Book 5+ introduces the letter/s-sound correspondences as shown on the front cover via Multi-skills Activities pages. Earlier texts tend to be more suitable for the beginning of the year while those towards the end of the lists are increasingly complex in either language or concepts, and therefore could be more appropriate towards the end of the year.
