You’ll find at Lancaster there’s always someone rooting for you. Our community is strong and at our open events you’ll start to meet some of the amazing people and teams dedicated to supporting our students. Meet your college Wren Beaumont is quite possibly the last virgin in her senior class at Lancaster Prep. Making the promised to her father in a ceremony a few years ago and she has kept it ever since. Working hard to keep her grades she is not happy when she is forced to work with Crew. Even though he is gorgeous he is grumpy and crude towards her, he manages to open her eyes to the life she leads, the friends she thought she had (but were simply one-sided) and the opinions that others have of her. You see, West and I? We share a secret. On a hot summer night in Paris, we hooked up. And I never do that. Ever. I revealed parts of myself to him I’ve never shown anyone else. He’s seen me at my most vulnerable. I told him my secrets. And he told me his. In Paris, he was sexy. Protective. Even dare I say…sweet.

During the course of the Second World War, 7,377 Lancaster bombers were built, flying a total of 156,000 sorties and dropped 618,378 tonnes of bombs on German cities such as Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin, and, of course, Dresden. Only thirty-five Lancasters completed more than 100 operations, and 3,249 were lost in action. The most successful, which completed 139 operations, was sent for scrap in 1947. One seventh of all deaths suffered by the British during WWII were incurred by Bomber Command. Over 50,000 aircrew were lost over the skies of Europe. Jill McArdleWhen Probe moved into the city centre Atticus moved to a larger shop on Hardman Street where it hosted signing sessions and readings from William Burroughs, John Cage, Brian Patten, Michael Horowitz, Ramsey Campbell,Gilbert Shelton and others. Running into financial difficulties in the 1980s Atticus moved into secondhand books and relocated to smaller premises on the same street. One of the distinctive features of the shop was the cut out figure of James Joyce made by Geoff Johnson. Geoff also designed our distinctive advertising. As the RAF marks its centenary, Nichol has created a thrilling and often moving tribute to some of its greatest heroes.’ Mail on Sunday Attending lavish parties is not a common affair for Summer Savage, her family are on the fringe of society but her stepfather wanted her to get used to the glamour of it all. Her fourteen-year-old self sips leftover champagne as she watches the party in awe. Captivated by a boy who is around her age, yet seems older than her then steals her first kiss before calling her a whore. Telling her about her mom’s affair with his father and that she is probably on her knees for him. Summer suddenly saw the world differently after that night.A superb and compelling book. Brilliantly written with some incredible and astonishing stories; it is gripping, moving, emotional and sometimes humorous – just perfect.’ Squadron Leader (Ret) Clive Rowley, former Officer Commanding RAF Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight Tis the season and things are a little stressful for our fave couple. There’s a lot going on in their lives, and Wren is feeling out of sorts. A festive/birthday return to see what Crew and Wren’s life looks like in the few years since they finished school and travelling. Married with a baby, willow, we join them in the days leading up to Christmas and of course Wren’s birthday which falls on Christmas Day. They are navigating life as new parents and Crew working for his older brother’s real estate company.

In case you read this review and have not got the book I should read the flyleaf because this is about the crews and much less about the Avro design and its utilisation let alone detail of its "forging" as a weapon of war warts and all because it was a machine with its faults as much as its successes. But that aside, it was flown by the gutsiest men the commonwealth and others could provide and I have always had great respect for them not to mention gratitude. Jill McArdle helped to run Atticus after it moved to Hardman Street and organise all the major events. There was an episode of Star Trek I once watched about a war on a planet that had been "sanitised" by the leadership of the opposing sides. No bombs were let off, no buildings destroyed, hits were recorded electronically like a game of battleships, but the casualties were real - those identified as being hit presenting themselves for disposal in termination booths. The story point was that this sanitised but murderous game of war had desensitised the participants and allowed the war to go on for generations without resolution. The reality of war is what creates the impetus to secure and preserve a peace. A few years later and her world has been thrown several curveballs. From the unwanted attention from her stepbrother who repeatedly raped her, her mom’s affair made public knowledge and a house fire that killed her stepfather and stepbrother. Now she is about to transfer to the elite Lancaster Prep for her senior year but any ideas of a new start are shattered when she discovers that Whit Lancaster is in her year and set to make her life hell. Turning into a high school bully that isolates her from everyone but somehow still makes her want him.

Why Lancaster?

Young heiress Scarlett Lancaster is delighted when her father tells her he hired a famous pop star and former boy band member to play at her eighteenth birthday. But delight becomes utter disappointment when it turns out he wasn’t talking about Harry Styles. No, Scarlett’s dad hired Tate Ramsey, former lead singer of the band Five Car Pileup, who hasn’t been popular for years. A dark and twisted bully romance full of secrets and lies… Whit Lancaster burst into my life like a storm. Dark and thunderous, furious and fierce. Cold, heartless and devastatingly beautiful, like the statues in our prep school gardens. The school with his family name on the sign. He can do no wrong here. This is his domain. In the 1990s as second Atticus opened in Lancaster by Tom and the Liverpool shop continued to be run by Jill McArdle for several years more until the lease expired and it finally closed.
