Having looked for alternatives I was informed that the boot I had seen reviewed was available in a low version, what’s more the online link I was sent was a local outlet meaning I could go and give them a try before committing. Over the years I’ve collected a number of boots and while my Alpinestars Supertech R race boots were great on a race bike I needed something a little bit more rugged for use on the GS. The most common used are Royal Mail for smaller items and Parcel Force for Larger items in the UK and Fedex for Overseas. There are also strong heel and toe cups and there is also a triangular TPU protective section on the outside of the edge of the foot.

Designed for adventure, enduro and ATV quad riding, these boots feature a double density compound rubber sole for optimal traction in various terrains. As you would expect from a boot of this nature they are very sturdy and it took a minute to mentally adjust to where my foot needed to be on gear shift. Not a mark on them from the gear selector thanks to the toe pad and the buckles adjusted up for a snug fit and didn't come undone. The straps on the fasteners are adjustable, much like ski boots, so you can tension them for a snug, secure fit without them being uncomfortable with one strap over the bridge of the foot, one at the top of the ankle and one, the top of the boot. There is clearly plenty of protection – they score the higher of the two ratings – a2 – in each of the three areas they are tested under the CE rating program, gaining the highest rating possible. This means that the front of the boot is flexible offering you more mobility but the back of the boot is stiffer so that your foot can't bend backwards.

A short, touring boot might conceivably be more comfortable, but a boot like this will be more protective. This will give you the opportunity to try on different brands and models and determine which ones best fit your feet. The personalised Forma Drytex tubular lining incorporates a waterproof and breathable membrane, ensuring comfort in various weather conditions. Ready for anything, the Forma Adventure Low boots are CE-certified to EN13634:2010 and feature an oiled full-grain leather upper construction with a mid-height design and an anti-slip rubber sole. These have won various awards in the past and I chose them for a two-day foray around narrow country lanes with some gentle off-roading as well as a 500-mile round trip to and from the riding location, putting in around 800 miles in them in two days and was really impressed. Standing up, they felt secure on the bike’s footpegs with plenty of grip and they transmitted the feelings from the bike, of movement and grip, perfectly to the feet and legs.

Gear change pads on both feet give additional resilience, and reflective detailing maximises visibility. And that feeling of comfort and reassurance does not diminish with time in them, unlike some other forms of boots. There is also a Velcro tab at the top with an elasticated section to prevent water from running in if they are worn outside trouser legs. Cross-country, the feel for the bike was great and movement for the gear and brake pedals was spot on.I usually struggle with boots that are supposed to support the foot and the leg – skating or ski boots, for example – and can generally only wear them for 30 minutes or so without them beginning to hurt. The Forma Adventure Dry Low Boots are crafted with a full-grain oil treated leather upper, providing both durability and a classic look.

But Forma has a very loyal following of bikers who are fans of both the quality and robustness of their footwear, but also of its comfort. The Adventure Dry Low is a pretty tough and rugged short boot, but it’s going to be the kind of boot that you could still walk around in after a long day in the saddle. A technical multi-flex sole allows the right amount of flex for everyday walking, but at the same time, has controlled flex and crush resistance to exceed CE level 2 protection. There is plenty of room to wiggle toes and there are no tight spots nor bits that stick into the feet. The new Forma Adventure low combines the comfort and flexibility of a road boot with features of an off-road boot.

Due to the special lightweight sole design, these boots are not recommended for use with kick-start bikes or with motocross style footpegs. Protection you'd expect: The ankle has been reinforced with TPU moulded plastic to give you ultimate protection.
