This twist complicates an already busy plot and doesn't fit Neil's character as a single-minded cop who's lost everything, (including his wife), over his obsession to catch a killer. Of course Jenna is perfect - the only person in the whole wide world who can get through to Nicky, and though he has been parenting by himself for years and she has no kids – only she can solve the parenting problem Steven is having with Brad.

A former high school teacher of chemistry and physics, Karen lives in Florida with her husband of more than thirty years. Their situation turns even more dangerous when Jenna finds herself on the twisted path of the serial killer Steven is investigating.First, Steven Thatcher is a wimp, his whining and hanging on to his baggage made him the most unattractive man I've come across in a romance. As they try to carefully explore the possibility of a relationship, Steven's past causes him to misjudge Jenna's actions on several occasions. Special Agent Steven Thatcher and his family are still recovering from his son's abduction six months ago during one of his cases when he lands another case involving a missing teenager.

I think this is most because of the main character who had pretty much stupid behavior towards the main heroine. Sparks fly, and before we know it Jenna and Steven are doing all kinds of ice cream related naughtiness. Even though the suspense is a serial killer (not my favorite baddie) and the romance is two people trying to sever ties to the past and move on (lots of baggage here), the humor makes everything not so morose. Not only is there a serial killer of teenage girls on the loose, but Steven's own teenage son Brad is suddenly acting up and failing at school.Still haunted by his youngests son's abduction a few years back; Things take a turn for the worst, stumping investigators when their newest victim is found dismembered, Steven's need for this killer to be punished grows knowing himself how the parents of these teenage girls must feel, he puts everything into finding the sick person behind there brutal attacks, taunting the killer back via press conference, but at what cost? I had a couple of technical issues with the narrative at the beginning of the book, which felt a little repetitive as the plot and characters were starting to be identified and introduced, and Jenna's friend Casey refers to her students' book analysis of Dostoevsky as themes and I've never heard that before in that context, so I wasn't totally sure what exactly Casey meant. Other than those few small points, which didn't detract much from the reading experience, I was thrilled with this book and think Rose has established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the romantic suspense genre. As circumstances cause them to continue to meet, they are unable to deny their awareness and feelings for one another.

Rose has created complex, realistic characters in high school teacher Jenna Marshall and Special Agent Steven Thatcher, whose eldest son, Brad, is in Jenna's class. carry over to future books at this time, the only exception being Stephen who it appears may have a secondary role in Kill for Me.When Jenna gives a failing grade to one of the football players, she finds herself the target of vandalism and hate notes.

Steven Thatcher, Special Agent for the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, is investigating the disappearance of a local high school cheerleader when she is found dead. Jenna may be a very nice person, but underneath it all, she's a tough-as-nails lady with a brown belt in karate. The mystery was dual pronged and nicely layered, and while the perpetrator of the slaughter of innocent girls maybe isn't the hardest thing to figure out early on, the big picture is much less so and the story provided enough twists and turns and surprises to keep me invested throughout.Stephen was a very nice guy who certainly didn't deserve the cruel way in which his first wife abandoned him and their children. She's a saint and perfect and loves her students, but outside of school I don't know much about her. They all round out and embellish a twisted, intricate plot of death and deception that is told with Rose's impeccable style and timing.
