Tigger's design stands out among the group as being a little unusual in a few respects. Pooh, Piglet, and Eeyore have all been designed to look like worn out stuffed animal versions of their pre-Disney counterparts. Tigger, on the other hand, keeps his very distinctive Disney head shape, and for some reason, his stripes are even more faded than his original stuffed animal (although, like all the original designs and unlike Disney, his hands are plush stumps with no thumb).
The term "heffalump" is whimsically used by adults to describe an elephant, or a child's view of an elephant. [2] In the third chapter of The House at Pooh Corner, Pooh and Piglet fall into a similar trap (it is implied it was the same trap) and think that it was made by a Heffalump to catch them. Pooh and Piglet rehearse the conversation they will have when the heffalump comes, but Pooh falls asleep and when Piglet hears a voice, he panics and says the wrong thing. He is mortified when the voice turns out to be that of Christopher Robin. While naturally borrowing a lot from the Disney canon, there's far more Mythology Gags and characteristics taken from the original novels. Pooh's mellow and philosophical side is demonstrated more here over the chipper Kindhearted Simpleton he is in most Disney works, Eeyore is more sarcastic, Rabbit clashes with Owl more than Tigger, Kanga is more childlike and foolish like everyone else. Everyone but Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore are also given British accents to reflect the book's origin. A Heffalump is a type of elephant-like character in the Winnie-the-Pooh stories by A. A. Milne. Heffalumps are mentioned, and only appear, in Pooh and Piglet's dreams in Winnie-the-Pooh (1926), and seen again in The House at Pooh Corner (1928). Physically, they resemble elephants; E. H. Shepard's illustration shows an Indian elephant. They are later featured in the animated television series The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1988–1991), followed by two animated films in 2005, Pooh's Heffalump Movie and Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie. The 2018 Cosmo Sheldrake song "Come Along" featured in an ad for the iPhone XR, contains the line "Come along, catch a Heffalump".
One of the promos for the film has Pooh surprising a policeman that he can talk. In the film, he is actually speaking to Madeline. Real Is Brown: Unusual for a Disney and Pooh film, all of the colors are very desaturated to emphasize the depressing reality of what it means to grow up and lose your innocence — even Pooh looks worn and depressed. It's a deliberate example of this trope, as the opening of the film has a brighter, more vibrant color palette, as do the Hundred Acre Wood scenes when Christopher reconciles with his old friends. Even so, the characters themselves were designed to resemble actual plush toys whose fur has faded and pilled with age. Piglet befriended a young heffalump named Junior in two episodes of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Junior lived with his parents, Papa Heffalump (voiced by Jim Cummings) and Mama Heffalump.
