She has been shown to inflict damage by projecting an invisible force to targets she points at with her index finger [10] which is strong enough to heavily damage Darkness Devil, who is a Primal Devil, kill Power instantly [11] and send an empowered Chainsaw Man high into the atmosphere when she used it repetitively against him. She usually says " Bang! (バン！)" while using this ability.
High Tolerance with Alcohol: Throughout the series, Makima is shown to be able to tolerate alcohol as she is unable to get drunk despite drinking lots of alcohol in several chapters unlike other people such as Aki, Kishibe or Himeno. Makima's true goal, however, was to be together forever with Pochita and lead a happy life with him. She always yearned for something like a family, being incapable of forming equal and meaningful relationships as the Control Devil.The commander meets with Andersen to discuss how things are going with the Devil Hunters. He seems to be getting along with these visitors well enough, but Anderson is curious if he met "her" yet. He clarifies that he was referring to Makima and shares that while he and the Devil Hunters were patrolling the surface, she paid some senior Central Government officials a visit. They were somewhat perplexed at how calm she was given she's in a world foreign to her, but now believe there may be other worlds that can facilitate human life because of her. The Devil Hunters are now considered VIP guests and they appear to be agreeable and cooperative since they aren't acting hostile. As she appears to be their leader, Makima will be getting preferential treatment.
Makima also realizes that she is not a good person and deems herself as "necessary evil"; a weapon under control of the Japanese government, just like Gun Devil which is under the control of the American government. She is not afraid of her plans derailing, since whether her plans fail or succeed, she will almost always achieve something she wants. Despite their seemingly cordial relationship together as Kishibe was willing to act as Denji and Power's mentor to get them into shape with Makima's suggestion, Kishibe is one of the characters that realizes Makima is not what she seems to be. At one point after he finished training Denji and Power, Kishibe suspected that Makima is a liar when she attempts to justify herself trying to save innocent people from devils as he also suspected her being somewhat responsible of the massacre of the Devil Hunters and other inhuman things she had done in which Makima response with a smile on her face. Meanwhile, Makima glances at a letter in the VIP room. It reads that the Central Government would like to introduce their world to their VIP guest. She admits to being curious about this foreign place. Initially, Makima appeared to be extremely generous towards Denji, giving him a job as a Devil Hunter, letting him live with Power and Aki to create a familial bond with them, and allowing him to have some limited freedom. Besides her Machiavellian tendencies, Maki holds the power to directly control her inferiors, stating as follows: "I have the power to control those I consider to be of lesser rank than myself." ( 私は自分より程度が低いと思う者を支配できる力があります , Watashi wa jibun yori teido ga hikui to omou mono o shihai dekiru chikara ga arimasu ?). [3] This "brainwashing" ability works on any being — from humans to animals, to Devils, to Fiends, to Hybrids, and she was not shown to have a limit to the number of subjects she can keep under control at once. It seems as though once placed under her control, a victim subsequently loses their memory of anything that happened immediately before they put under control, and of anything they did while being controlled. Makima is seen partnering Aki with the Angel Devil stating that he is the most powerful member of the 4th excluding Kishibe. She also tells Aki that the Angel Devil is lazy and that he doesn't have to be friendly with him, only to use him well as he could be a valuable asset. The most common spelling of Makima in Japanese is 牧間, which can be read, as a play on 人間/"human", as "shepherd". Which can go with how she essentially can make people into her " sheeple." Psychic Powers: Makima has a rather strong psychic powers that could be used to brutally killing other people as if they were killed by an invisible force as she forms several symbols on her hands to do so and is able to brutally crushing people on the inside out or just murdering them by looking at the target and using her psychic power or just pointing her index finger as a psychical gun to defeat her enemies. Her brutal physic powers was shown where she performed the ritual in a shrine to kill Denji's assailants or crushing a Yakuza inside out that made him bleed. Her power was also shown to be capable to wound the Darkness Devil and she was also shown to kill Power with the same psychic gun powers that she used towards the Darkness Devil itself. In addition, she uses her psychic gun again during her fight in Chapter 88 as her psychic gun is so powerful to the point she manages to sent Chainsaw Man into space. Makima ( マキマ , Makima ?) was the main antagonist of the Public Safety Saga. She was a high-ranking Public Safety Devil Hunter who took Denji in as her human pet.
Her behavior through nurture was shown when she is reincarnated as Nayuta who is essentially the more docile and weaker version of Makima while keeping her innocence still intact as Kishibe tells Denji to not let her to be given by the government to be raised and her distaste towards the Bureau was also shown in Chapter 22 where she expresses a displeasure on meeting with the Kyoto Bigwigs as she wanted to enjoy her hobby in peace. Her wish to yearn something for a familial relationship was also shown during her date with Denji as she was shown crying after seeing a movie about two people hugging with each other. History Intro arc Enhanced Smell: According to Denji, Makima primarily differentiates others through smell. In their first encounter, she was able to detect that Pochita still existed within Denji through his scent. However, she cannot differentiate between humans through sight, similar to how humans cannot differentiate between dogs by their faces.
Relationships
Her association with pests could be reflective of how the Conquest Horseman is often interpreted as the Horseman of Pestilence. The reason for the Conquest Horseman being changed to Pestilence in some interpretations is because scholars found Conquest to be too similar to War. Pestilence was an easy change because at the time, bows and arrows were laced with poisons and toxins and the Conquest Horseman held a bow and arrow. Even though Makima's hands are in a more gun-like position, her "Bang!" ability can also be comparable to shots from an arrow. Makima was partially based on "Benten", a character in "The Eccentric Family" that Fujimoto liked, for she is an unfathomable higher being, with her own sadness that we lowly humans can't comprehend—something Fujimoto wanted to convey in Makima. In the end of the manga, it was then revealed that Pochita knew about Makima's own ambitions and goals to create a better world so that she could stand equal with other humans and form a familial relationships in the end due to her harsh upbringing with the Japanese government while seeing Pochita was the only entity that is on equal footing as her which in turn forming a rather toxic fanaticism towards him and trying to have a lovely life together by eating and sleeping together. However, in the end, Pochita ended up finding Makima's methods on building her ideal world to be wrong and as a result, he decided to have a philosophical chat with Makima about movies before going to battle and after Makima was defeated and reincarnated, Pochita then entrust Denji to fulfill Makima's goal by embracing her with hugs a lot so that her ideal world can be realized. Aki Hayakawa At the same time, Makima also shown to performs several sketchy and inhumane behavior across the manga due to her seemingly immortal nature, being able to control other animal life itself to perform her bidding, managing to wound one of the Primordial Devils and also had a rather creepy Orwellian approach to increase her knowledge towards other surroundings which makes her rather frightening for a good reason.
