If you’ve read our previous articles on the Boarding Patrol boxsets, then you will have noticed (if you scrolled down this far – and I thank you for it) that we have started to talk about the value these boxsets bring to the actual Boarding Actions game mode itself. Now, I will preface by saying I’ve (almost) run the gammet of 40K armies – whether that’s fielding factions or being fielded against – and so I rely on my experience to inform myself of how good certain models play on the tabletop. However, Chaos Daemons is one of those factions that I’ve never played or had play against me – so I can only give brief opinions on how valuable these units are on the tabletop. In terms of optional extras for the Legionaries, you can give one a Balefire tome at an extra 20pts to make one a Psyker, giving you some extra things to do in the Psychic Phase. There’s also the option to gain a Mark of Chaos for each of the chaos gods for an extra 15pts – each one will give you a different bonus to your dice rolls or buff a stat, but with the points limitation of Boarding Actions, you will have to consider carefully if it’s worth the cost. The Balefleet Battleforce is a contingent of corrupted warriors comprised of 10 Possessed , five Chaos Space Marine Terminators , and a Heldrake , all led by an infernal Daemon Prince.The Emperor’s finest are the prime bulwark against Abaddon’s nefarious schemes, and this Boarding Patrol is typical of their brutal efficiency in such matters. You’ll be able to face any foe with a highly customisable Primaris Captain in Gravis armour , five Heavy Intercessors , and 10 Assault Intercessors . In a world of bloody Boarding Actions, it’s easy to forget the colossal battles that define the 41st Millennium are still taking place. Balefleets are the cohorts raised by Abaddon and Vashtorr, tasked with collecting the artefacts needed to complete their meticulous plan.

Abaddon is truly a nightmare on the board – with the Terminator keyword, he can go into reserve and deep strike wherever on the board in the next turn, so you have the option to place him next to a strategic point at a later point in the game. If there is an unclaimed objective too far for the opposing player to reach, Abaddon can be there in a hot minute. To maximise him properly, you may have to forego deep striking and keep him with the lads Legionaries to buff them up with hit re-rolls and wound re-rolls, buffs to charge rolls and a myriad of other abilities that justify his expense. He’s also been given the Agents of Chaos keyword, meaning he can be dropped into a Death Guard, Thousands Sons or World Eaters army (though that may come at an expense of some abilities in those respective armies, be warned). And to top it off, he cannot lose more than 3 wounds in a given turn, and his statline is eye-watering. Taller de juegos have really despoiled us with this one. This is an interesting move by GW, as the boxes are made specifically for the new game format. We’ll have to see pricing on these, but if they price them right, it could be a decent way to start up a new force and get to playing some boarding action games all in one go.In this part, we’ll examine how the Grey Knights might be played in Boarding Actions. Here are their points values, including the buildable variants (though do note I have omitted the Purgation Squad, as they cannot be played in Boarding Actions).
