Description

Once the girls start talking, they realize they have the same birthday, birth town, adoption drop off date, and the same emerald ring. They aren’t just twins. They are identical twins, sort of.

K samotnej zápletke : tá je celkom jednoduchá a priamočiara, zámena dievčat, kde jedna bude roztlieskavačkou a druhá organizátorkou plesu. The story takes place at Franklin Grove Middle School Franklin Grove is not your normal middle school. Everything seems dark and dreary. But the kids don't seem to mind, since they are into all things dark. Olivia Abbott is used to vampires. . . after all, her twin sister Ivy is one! But she's never believed in ghosts. That all changes at the Café Creative Halloween party, when Olivia meets a beautiful girl who's dressed in a strange red gown and behaving super spookily! Ivy isn't convinced. . . until she learns the legend of the tragic Calhoun sisters, who died over 100 years ago. Could Franklin Grove be haunted? One thing's for certain—the twins are in for their spookiest Halloween ever! Switched is about a perky girl who loves cheerleading named Olivia Abbott. She just moved to Franklin Grove, where there are a lot of Goth teenagers at her middle school. She found out that one of those Goths was her long lost twin sister, Ivy! But the biggest secret? Ivy, along with all the other Goths, is a vampire! They discovered that switching places is fun, but when it involved Ivy's best friend of 12 years, Sophia, she sees through the switch. Sophia found out that Ivy and Olivia were twins, and she also found out that Ivy told Olivia she was a vampire, a secret that should be hidden away from humans.

My Sister the Vampire is a cheery urban fantasy series dealing with the troubles of a middle school (and later high school) kid navigating through moving to a new city and discovering a previously unknown identical twin sister. The series was written in a fiction mill by multiple authors all writing under the pen name Sienna Mercer. Originally printed in the UK by Harper Collins, Scholastic later ran a reprint of the first 13 books with updated cover art and 6 of the books re-named. Unfortunately, to add more confusion, the 13th book was re-named the same title as the 18th. Ivy Vega is an 8th grader. She is your UBER Goth type. She also has the ability to give anyone the "squinty eye," and get them do what she wants.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Sienna began writing stories when she was a teenager, on a very wet day in Toronto when her cheerleading practice was cancelled - and she has not stopped writing since. She used to write in red leather notebooks while sat on her bed, but now does most of her writing in her attic, which is quite dark, and has some spooky cobwebs in the corners - the perfect location for thinking about vampires. She doesn't use red notebooks anymore, either, although she keeps them in a chest by her desk in the attic. Sienna got the idea for My Sister the Vampire from a daydream she had - what if she had a super-cool twin sister... who was a vampire? She loved the characters - and their kooky friends and family - so much that she just had to keep writing about them. Also, I'm really happy that Ivy didn't get easily swept into the popular clique and followed Charlotte like some airhead. Instead she stood up for herself and her sister. I think that was a great positive scene for younger girls. Ivy's character is definitely a model for younger girls as she works hard towards her dream of making the cheerleading squad even though there's a negative force trying to bring her down. I’m fine, really,” said Aunt Clara. “And the children, who should’ve told you I wasn’t here, especially since they said they would, worry or no worry”—she glared at Tim and Sarah—“were looked after by those nice neighbors of yours, the Gibsons...” (p. 184-185)

Ivy and Olivia can't lose each other again! Even though twin sisters Ivy and Olivia, separated at birth, have only been reunited for a few months, they can't imagine life without each other. But Mr. Vega has decided to move to Europe--and he's taking Ivy with him! Oh, no! With Olivia's cheerleader optimism and Ivy's vampire craftiness, they're determined to come up with a plan that will keep Ivy and her dad in Franklin Grove. But what? Despite that Olivia is a cheerleader in love with pink, and Ivy is a pale goth fanatic, they both become best friends. I read these book series two years ago, I stopped at the fourth and never read the rest. I also havent had the chance to make a book review about it. Like I said here I re-read these series to make a book review about it and because I kind of forgot the story a little - again, I read this two years ago! If you’re looking for a way to introduce your tween to classic vampires, this isn’t it. These vampires have no fangs (literally—they file them off). But the books are fun and cute without being insipid—good escapism for the 8 to 11 year old set. They might also be good for reluctant readers because they’re short but fun to read, and they don’t feel too much like little kid books. This book is called "My sister is a vampire" and it's written by Sienna Mercer. Sienna Mercer is Canadian. She writes book for children. This book is fiction but could be realistic fiction. The story could also be mystery because it's a sequel so every end of the books are mysterious so it makes you want to read the rest of the books. There isn’t exactly a ton of character development—the trouble-making characters will pretty much always make trouble—and some of the plots are rather predictable, but at the core is a message of acceptance, both of yourself and of the people you love. Secrets are central in many ways, but they don’t keep secrets from each other or from their parents for very long. Even when they’re nervous about telling the truth, it’s never as bad as they fear. I’ve mentioned my issues with secrets elsewhere, and these books feel like an antidote to that in some ways. SPOILER ALERT: Things you might want to know before suggesting this to your kid Family Olivia and Ivy's twelfth fright-time adventure. Ivy and Olivia are together again - and not a moment too soon. The whole vampire community is in a flap. Can the twins discover the identity of the mystery blogger who's determined to expose Franklin Grove's biggest secret? My only complaint is that they’re so short. Other than that, I appreciate the relationship the girls have—it isn’t perfect or without tension, but they love each other despite of and because of their differences. Olivia is a perky vegetarian cheerleader and Ivy is a goth vampire with a penchant for rare meat, but they see the good aspects in each other, even if they don’t totally understand or embrace the other’s lifestyle. The boys in their lives are decent secondary characters who aren’t stupid plot devices. Olivia’s best friend is a proud sci-fi geek, a characteristic that isn’t played for laughs.

Vampalicious!– Ivy and Olivia can’t lose each other again! Even though twin sisters Ivy and Olivia, separated at birth, have only been reunited for a few months, they can’t imagine life without each other. But Mr. Vega has decided to move to Europe-and he’s taking Ivy with him! Oh, no! With Olivia’s cheerleader optimism and Ivy’s vampire craftiness, they’re determined to come up with a plan that will keep Ivy and her dad in Franklin Grove. But what? Sienna Mercer is the queen of Intermediate or tween books, in my opinion. Even as a young adult and reading her books as a young adult makes me have so much respect for her because her works captivate me with awe and excitement. That even if this was meant for a younger audience I enjoy it in the eyes of one (and it also helps that I'm a child-at-heart). I also read this in the level of a tween so that I can recommend my future students to read it. The book is about two girls that were adopted when they were just a baby and one of them was a vampire. They both lived completely different lives but met again one day and discovered they were twins. The story takes place when one of the girls moves to a new school where they met. They discovered that they were twins because of similar rings they both had since as long as they could remember and they are tying to find where it came from. The only problem is that they can't find their parent's record, it's like they never existed.
