Beam Suntory Marketing Director Trent Chapman said: “The Canadian Club brand continues to grow from strength to strength, driven predominantly by our RTD range of CC & Dry and our newer CC Soda & Lime.”

There are several styles of whiskey, and each has its own characteristics. For instance, bourbon has a classic whiskey taste, rye whiskey is spicy, Canadian whisky and Irish whiskey tend to be very smooth, and Scotch can be smoky. These generalizations can vary from one brand to the next, though as you explore whiskeys, you’ll likely develop a preference for one or two styles. Overall, Seagram’s VO smells like acetone, and there’s no way around that. If you have a sensitive nose, expect to be shaken right out of the box. Honestly, the other aromas are barely there, but the chemical note is often off-putting to many. There’s no age statement for Canadian Club, and it’s actually a blend of three different whiskies. You might be surprised to learn that it was originally crafted in Detroit, though they moved to Ontario, Canada, after Prohibition. So far, I’ve talked about Seagram’s VO and Canadian Club as individuals. Now, it’s time to tie it all together to help you make a decision about what’s right for you. The 2022 Global Grand Effie awards was open to 2021 Gold and Grand Effie winners from all regional and national Effie Awards programs around the world. Out of 60 Global Grand contenders, 12 emerged as Global Grand Effie winners. Both ingredients have strong sweet tones that balance each other perfectly. The naturally sweet notes of Canadian Club whiskey combine with the caramelized sugar in the coke to create a delightful flavor profile that won’t overpower your palate.

As you can see, there’s no comparison here. I prefer sweeter whiskies that leave a pleasant taste in my mouth after they’ve gone down, so I might be a little biased. Still, I felt that, comparing those five criteria, it was the only score I could produce. Lemonade is a great way to balance out the strong flavor of rye whiskey, making it a popular mixer for those who want something a bit sweeter. Double-matured, first in white oak barrels for at least eight years; then casks from the Sherry wine region (Spain). It is 82.6-proof (41.3% abv). You’ll note the deep colour as you pour Seagram’s VO into your glass. While this is normal for whisky, you may wonder if it’s alcohol or water because the nose is barely noticeable and, I’d say, it’s weak.Canadian Club is also produced in limited quantities in older agings (15 years and up) for special markets. For the whisky's 150th anniversary in 2008, a 30-year-old version was released in a very limited bottling. Because Seagram’s VO takes some time to acclimate to it, you will probably get off the ground faster with Canadian Club. However, if you can give it time and take Seagram’s VO seriously, you’ll likely be rewarded for your patience. Mouthfeel: Honestly, there’s not much of a difference between the two because both are pretty thin and weak here. If you like a sweeter and spicier flavour profile, you will likely go with Canadian Club. Those who prefer a touch of spice with less flavour will enjoy Seagram’s VO.
