About this deal

If the drawn card is a Tax Increase, all players that currently own 12 or more golden coins lose half (rounded down) of their coins (i.e. with 12 or 13 coins the player loses 6 coins ). The cards are put onto the discard pile. Afterwards - depending on the Tax Increase drawn - either the player with the most Swords or the player with the least victory points gains 1 coin. In case of a tie (for example if no players have swords or victory points yet) all tied players gain 1 coin. The person cards display various people who live and work around the harbor: sailors, admirals, priests, traders, and “mademoiselles”. These cards are available to be hired by players, and when hired will be placed in front of you for the remainder of the game (except in a few cases). Port Royal Just One More Contract offers the chance for players to compete for contracts. Added smoothly into the base game, both thematically and mechanically, the contracts add a new dimension to the game.

The additional content of the Gold Edition was also included in the 1.30 patch for this version of the game, and was the foundation for the international version. Spellings Of course, in Free Play mode, you can mix both of those in any way you want, letting you create your own unique and exciting story. Lafferty, Michael (June 26, 2003). "Port Royale – PC – Review". GameZone. Archived from the original on January 30, 2009 . Retrieved February 22, 2020. It’s an interesting expansion. Often, I judge expansions like this with a simple rule. Would I ever play the game without it now? And with Port Royal Just One More Contract I would. I regularly do play Port Royal without it. It is such a simple and fast game, sometimes that is all I want. But crucially with Port Royal Just One More Contract I feel this game needs to be judged not on its essential status, but more how it changes the game. If an expansion is not considered a must-have every time you play, I believe it needs to change the game to make it feel different enough to warrant a place on my shelf. Ah come on... they won't notice or care... throw in some customization for the ship. Let them create their own flag. It'll be fine"Try to extend your influence and you might even be able to answer the call of one of the prestigious expeditions. Included within this expansion, you will also find new ship cards which bring you three money like before, but now another player of your choice gets one extra money too. A nice little extra choice to make. There is also, three new character cards. Clerks, Gunners and Vice Admirals. All of which offer powers that enhance your trade and hire abilities. The expansion is giving you more money and more hiring skills to suit the Contracts element. They all work well together.

Finally the remaining person cards provide benefits on a player’s turn. The Governor is worth 0 victory points, and costs 8 coins, but allows the player to select an additional card on their turn. The Admiral card gives players an immediate 2 coins any time there are 5 or more cards in the Harbor when it is their turn to choose a card. Finally, the Jester card gives players an immediate coin if there are NO cards in the Harbor when it is their turn to choose a card.
