Barber, Nicholas (January 8, 1995). "How we met". The Independent. London . Retrieved May 22, 2010.

Sambora composed television theme songs for Entertainment Tonight and The Insider. Sambora (along with Jon Bon Jovi) is part of the ownership group of the Philadelphia Soul, an Arena Football League football team. [26] [ needs update] This song captivates me still, after 50+ years. Takes me to the deep South and the poverty of some who lived thru truly hard times. And the powerful spirit of a poor young girl being abandoned to her future with only a red dress and her wits to keep her alive. Having the album hit the Top 20 in the UK and Top 40 in the US is obviously not bad, but compared to Sambora’s main band (and the performance of bandmate Jon Bon Jovi’s solo album – UK #2/US #3) it is definitely a more modest result. It should be kept in mind that the album wasn’t a high profile release, and depending on your view you could equally argue that it was a failure (as an album from a member of one of the world’s most popular bands) or a success (a low-profile release of introspective songs created with no thought of getting hits).

The guitar solo halfway through the song is nothing less than exceptional, adding some musical storytelling to proceedings as well. He is clearly inspired by classic players like Eric Clapton, who actually agreed to appear on the album, providing the guitar solo to the song Mr. Bluesman. Following the last tour date in Mexico in February 1990, the band members just dispersed and went home individually. There was no tour wrap party or celebrations of any kind, and hardly any goodbyes were exchanged. They did not even have any plans for their future. They just desperately needed to get away, and even to consider a future at that point was too much. The first radio promotional single was "Church of Desire" in the United Kingdom. "The Answer" and "Rosie" were also released as promo singles in Japan. To coincide with his solo album Aftermath of the Lowdown, Sambora and friends performed as the house band on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on CBS for one week (December 3–7, 2012). [30] Several guests sang along with the band over the week, including Ferguson (singing Sugar Daddy), [31] Denis Leary, Eddie Izzard and even Larry King, who sang the Late Late Show theme song. [32]

"Bruce Springsteen, who grew up in Freehold, served up the critically acclaimed "We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions" in April, and the singer Jon Bon Jovi, who was raised in Sayreville, and his band's guitarist Richie Sambora, from Woodbridge, will be immortalized as action figures next July by McFarlane Toys, it was announced in October." Sambora and his songwriting partner Jon Bon Jovi were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 18, 2009. [56] Craig Ferguson sings Sugar Daddy (video)". CBS. So, not a song about a poor girl, but a song of hope and how you can rise up no matter how far down you started. In any case, with three Bon Jovi members on board, people would be justified in wondering how different this project would sound from the mothership. As it turned out, when the Stranger In This Town album was released on 3 September 1991, it was very clearly not a Bon Jovi album. It showed a lot more musical diversity, featuring songs that displayed different styles and moods. The typical Bon Jovi stadium anthems with singalong choruses is not what this album is about. It features more inward-looking, retrospective, emotional (often sad) material, and very personal lyrical content. Sambora would later describe the album as 90% autobiographical.

Technician [Technical Staff, A&M Recording Studios] – Bob Borbonus, Fred Bova, Gary Mannon, Gary Myerberg, Jonathan Little, Mark Opie, Mark Tindle, Michael Morongell, Stephen Barncard Stranger In This Town is a song about myself,” Sambora said on the Deluxe CD interview, “because I’m being a stranger in almost every town every time I’m on the road. But also there’s an element of the homeless situation in there, which is something that almost is kind of a guilt thing that was happening with me. I wake up in the morning and I do have a nice home, and… well, I’m never there, but I do have a nice house! And being in New York and seeing the homeless situation and stuff like that… That was kind of the blues that I was singing about. Just a little bit of confusion, you know. And then I started to realise that everybody get the blues, and it has nothing to do with economics or money. It’s just… people have the blues. Robert Johnson said it with two sentences: “I love my baby. My baby she don’t love me.” That’s the blues. It has nothing to do with money, you know. So I found the blues, and that’s where it comes from.” Harding, Mark. "Play Like... Richie Sambora". Guitar King. Archived from the original on May 1, 2016 . Retrieved June 26, 2017. Sambora did manage to fit in a short US tour of the album with all the album’s main players, including his Bon Jovi bandmates. The shows obviously attracted lots of Bon Jovi fans, who were happy to get some songs from that band as well, but crucially it gave the songs on the Stranger In This Town album a chance to show that they worked really well in a live setting as well. Richard Stephen Sambora was born on July 11, 1959, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, the son of Joan (née Sienila), a secretary, and Adam C. Sambora, a factory foreman. [5] Sambora is of Polish descent [6] and was raised Catholic. [7] He grew up in Woodbridge Township, New Jersey, [8] and graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1977. [9] He played basketball in high school; his sophomore team won the 1975 Group 4 State title. [ citation needed]

In 2004, Sanctuary Records released a self-titled album which had been recorded in 1978 by Shark Frenzy, documenting Sambora's first recorded material. The mix tapes had been damaged in a flood and band member Bruce Foster had remastered them for release many years later. Offiziellecharts.de – Richie Sambora – Stranger in This Town" (in German). He has an extensive guitar collection, featuring more than 130 instruments, [59] about a third of which are various Fender Stratocaster models. [60]You Can Go Home". youcangohome.com.
