Q: What sort of range is there between points costs? How much is the cheapest type of gang member and how much is the more expensive, and what does the difference get you, just better stats, or more equipment slots/extra rules etc. There are some suitable 24” mats that fit the TWD theme nicely. While the mats are only 4” longer in both dimensions, this does translate to a big difference in terms of playing surface. A 24” mat actually has 44% more playing surface than a 20” mat. If you were using the same number of walkers on both mats then the level of ‘walker concentration’ would be greater on the smaller mat. You would have to work harder to get past them. So as a consequence games may be faster on a 24” mat, which can be important for events / tournaments. The box also gives you some cardboard terrain, which is fantastic as the cost and amount of effort you need to start playing is on a par with a board game. Everything you need to get a taste of the game is included. This includes cardboard templates and, crucial to gameplay, cardboard terrain. Aaron and Eric visit Heath to ask him how he feels about leaving Holly behind. He tells them he does not want to even think about it, Aaron then tells Eric to not stop thinking about it as it will help drive them in the coming battles. Aaron goes on to say that he can't wait until it is only the dead they have to worry about again, rather than the living.

Q: When you say that the game will include rules for character generation, does that mean what it sounds like? That is, does that really mean we’ll be able to create our own group of survivors not related to TWD IP?In addition to the scenarios (and of course the new characters and equipment cards) each expansion will introduce a few new rules to add a twist to the core game. These will be a key part of the scenarios, but there is nothing to stop you using them in your regular games for a bit more excitement. For example, the Atlanta campfire adds rules for Walkers and tents being set on fire, buildings such as the farm’s barn can become spawn points for new Walkers in the middle of the board, and Woodbury will add rules for playing at night. There’s plenty to look forward to! Q: What penalty’s will come into play if you sacrifice one of your gang for the greater good ( non voluntary, of course ). Custom expansions are created by myself and "Mantic's The Walking Dead - Finishing the Story" Facebook Group. Eddy, Anthony, Jasmin, and Ronnie are exclusive walkers added to the game based on real life people. Having been involved in some great TWD events over the last year such as Conflict, and designed the scenarios used in the two largest AOW events so far (Winter’s End & Trial By Fire), this guest blog is going to focus on some of the considerations you might have if you want to devise your own scenarios too.

This Walking Dead miniatures game represents larger scale conflicts than All Out War. The lone travellers struggling to survive in what’s left of the world have now formed communities, built walls, and gathered arms. However, the harsh conditions outside their walls have led these groups to fear the outside world. They see other groups as a threat to their very existence – no longer are the dead the only ones to fear… How to Play The Walking Dead Call To Arms? Naturally, since the announcement, there have been people online trying to dump their collections. While I am a little sad that there will be no Commonwealth models, or various other bits and pieces, I am happy to have a “closed” system. As someone that collects and plays Kings of War, KOW Armada, Deadzone, Fallout Wasteland Warfare and The Elder Scrolls, it is handy to have a game that is “complete”. There is a completely different feeling to a game when the obligation to “keep up” with purchasing new releases or reading errata ends. What we have now, will always remain so. What is dead can never dieQ: What about the zombies, do they just have a flat rate cost, or will some be better/stronger (like a fresh zombie compared to a 1 year old decayed zombie missing a limb or two) and therefore cost more? The Walking Dead: All Out War is not a perfect game…but what is? It is definitely an outstanding game though and even with a re-release of Blood Bowl getting me all giddy I am proudly awarding the EH Gaming 2016/17 Game of the Year accolade to Mantic for this box of fun. I am completely hooked on it and have found myself playing the solo scenarios in lunch breaks when no-one else can be found to play with. I don’t see the novelty wearing off anytime soon either and that is the mark of a great game for me. The ongoing support with new releases has also been outstanding so this game is frequently getting a refresh and evolving. There is no doubting that Negan made a brilliant baddie, and there were some terrific stories and themes with the Whisperers, the Kingdom and Hilltop. For me, the Walking Dead was at its best in Atlanta, Woodbury, Terminus and in the prison, and I can’t wait to play that out on the table.

We’re in the middle of writing all of this up at the moment, but I will leave you with some examples of scenarios that you can play out in the expansions.A: Zombies are 15 points, so in a 150pt game you will start with 10 on the table. When we hit the prison we will add in some slightly more expensive zombies in riot gear… The Walking Dead: All Out War is probably one of the easiest games to play solo, as many of the narrative scenarios feature co-op or solo play rules. However, if you’ve never played All Out War, a good place to start for solo play is the Prelude to Woodbury starter set. This box set tells the story of Brian Blake, before he rose to power as the tyrannical Governor. I went ahead and decided to work on an English version with some quality of life improvements since it seemed highly requested. I've scanned all of my cards from my own personal collection, as well as what I could gather from others of the All Out War community. I will continue to update this with more expansions and boosters, as well as custom content. During this final stage, you can also choose whether or not your Survivor will be a leader, which allows you to add one special leader ability. With this being a core set, Mantic has already released numerous game and character expansions to take the experience further if you like this set. Based on the experience I have had with the set, the opportunity to add different characters and scenarios is one that is appealing.

Today we’ve got a fascinating blog from guest contributor Daniel Meadows. Daniel is one of the members of The Walking Dead RC and is currently busy working on all the cool stuff we’ve got coming up for TWD. Anyway, in this blog he gives you a guide for creating custom scenarios in All Out War. Over to you Daniel… A key driver to making zombie entertainment so popular was The Walking Dead TV series, which was very loosely based on The Walking Dead comic/graphic novels by Robert Kirkman. I could talk about George Romero and Shaun of the Dead forever but for once I am going to stay on topic. Starting, now. In 2020 there are so many wonderful games out there, so many demands on our time and wallet that means that the hobby space is bigger than ever but also it is brutal for new games to find an audience.

CONCLUSION

Start assigning how many dice and what colour dice your Survivor will roll for Melee, Shoot and Defense. Depending upon what dice you choose, it’ll start adding to your Survivor’s overall cost. Red dice (which have the lowest potential results) are the cheapest, while blue dice are the most expensive. You must give your Survivor at least one red dice for defense. From Mantic Games The Walking Dead Call To Arms is the Skirmish miniatures game based on the comic book franchise.
