About this deal

What I particularly enjoyed and found highly entertaining about this amazing book was the innovative way Cora has decided to structure and write it. It's devided into five betrayals (from the past and present) Dante has perpatrated against the Outfit and the resulting consequences they had on his Mafia empire and his and his family's life. If you're a huge fan of this incredibly talented author like me you will have zero difficulties in guessing who those five women are that Dante has chosen over his vow, his men and the cause. A Capo may be the judge over life and death but he is also accountable for his actions. And as it's often the case a betrayal comes with secrets that could destroy everything you've been working for. Born into one of the leading Mob families in Chicago, Aria Scuderi struggles to find her own path in a world where no choices are given. Aria was only fifteen when her parents betrothed her to Luca – The Vice – Vitiello, the oldest son of the head of the New York Cosa Nostra to ensure peace between the two families. I've heard that Matteo and his bitchy Gianna, from Bound by Hatred, might be getting their own sequel. I'll happily avoid putting myself through a second dose of that toxic duo. So let me now really start my review with Gianna and Matteo - my biggest disappointments since book 1. I found it interesting that Dante was mentioning that Camorra was a problem, etc., how he had Luca on one side and Remo on the other before they were allied. I have to say that I sort of missed a scene where he reacts to Nino and Kiara's wedding and the pact between Luca and Remo. It would have been interesting to see.

First of all, was there a point in dedicating more than half the chapters on the couples' sex life? And the rest of them were about them having kids, but I'll get to that in a minute. Val is as always a GREAT heroine, never meek or dull. She was such a loving and fun mom to Anna & Leonas. I enjoyed those moments! So Dante thought about Carla at 65% “...I’d never forget her and what had happened...” dude its been years you have 2 kids with Val lets forget her!!

Publication Order of Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles Books

While it was interesting to see what was Remo only predicting in the Twisted Pride, it also got a bit tedious. I mean different characters using precisely the same words to describe something? After her husband dies, Valentina keeps her late husband’s secret because she wanted to respect the dead and also protect herself. However, now that her marriage to Dante is looming, Valentina fears that her body of lies are threatening to unravel. But her worries are unfounded because Dante is not very interested in finding much about her and he ignores her. Now she becomes confused and indignant and she is planning to make Dante fall in love with her even though his heart belongs to a dead woman. By the end of it, the family dynamic was cute, i'll give her that. But it doesn't make up for the extremely poor and dissapointing quality of this novella. The only way to escape the marriage to Luca would be to run away and leave everything she’s ever known behind but Aria can’t bear the thought of never seeing her family again. Luca and Aria: I love my number one babies. The short story of Amo was cute but, I don't think the gym sex short story was necessary. I never expected them to have three kids but, I'm happy about that. Valerio is kinda cute.... it'll grow on me I guess.

Do yourself a big favor and don't read this. I mean it, don't go anywhere near this... thing. Such a waste of time. Some things aren't meant to be broken, and therefore can't be mended - ever. I was one of those things. Whatever had been shattered in the incident would never be whole again.Dante better tell Valentina that he loves her! I hope that we find out something suspicious about his previous wife that helps Dante get over her. It really bothers me that he is still hung up on her. This is why I hate widowers one books. I feel so guilty for supporting the heroine over the poor dead wife, so it makes me feel much better if the previous wife was terrible. It’s no secret that I dislike Aria, but I reconsidered after reading this. Aria didn’t do much but when it came to innocent, helpless women and family she always defied Luca to the point of stupidity sure, but you still have to admire that. She helped Gianna. She helped Lilly. She also helped Cara when Growl sent her to NY. (And she knew nothing about that girl - wasn’t related to her in any way) Not to mention her stupidity of going to Chicago for her brother…

He'd done it to spare his sister a lifetime with a sexual sadist. And on 4 occasions, after this, he would, in his own words, choose:

Well, in the spirit of full disclosure, I will admit that I was extremely afraid to read this book.
