Bisabolol: One of the active parts of chamomile, bisabolol is a clear, oily fluid used in skincare as an anti-inflammatory and soothing ingredient.

Although it’s not as effective as l-ascorbic acid, it does have its benefits. It’s much more stable than l-ascorbic acid which means you don’t have to worry as much about it going rancid. It’s also more easily tolerated because your skin must convert it to l-ascorbic acid before it can use it. That means that if you have sensitive skin or haven’t been able to tolerate l-ascorbic acids in the past, this could be the solution for you! You’ll take additional reassurance knowing that just like the other The Ordinary products we’ve discussed, this solution is alcohol-, oil-, and fragrance-free, as well as vegan and cruelty-free. Created in partnership with dermatologists, this formula contains micro-fine green colour particles to help mask redness and Allantoin 0.3% which helps to soothe the skin. It can be easily layered with other products and leaves no white-cast or 'crunchy' layer when paired with other products. When The Inkey List released their Super Solutions 10% Azelaic Acid Serum last year, I just had to get my hands on it. I saw excellent results from the FaceTheory Lumizela serum and I wanted to see if this would work just as well. Azelaic Acid has become one of my favourite skincare ingredients over the past year or so.

However, I managed to find out that I was using a tad bit too much of this product and this was what was causing the pilling. Apparently, all you need is a pea-size amount for the entire face and I, admittedly, might have done a little more than that. Then, I just didn’t enjoy how it makes my skin more mattified than my previous uses, which was crazy enough on its own, but I soon found out that it simply didn’t mix very well with the moisturizer I was using at the time. There's no such thing as an "objectively better" bottle (unless it influences degradation or efficacy), but I suppose if you have a preference for a specific applicator—such as The Ordinary's iconic dropper—this could help you to decide between the two. Furthermore, azelaic acid continues to take care of your skin even after your acne is gone and it can significantly minimize remaining spots of hyperpigmentation as well as post-inflammatory erythema, both caused by acne.

WHAT CAN I LAYER WITH THIS PRODUCT?Redness Relief Solution with 10% Azelaic Acid will fit easily in your skincare routine but we do not recommend to use Azelaic Acid and AHAs (Glycolic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Apple Cider Vinegar), BHAs (Salicylic Acid, Beta Hydroxy Acid or C-50 Blemish Acid Treatment), PHA Toner or Retinols at the same time as this can lead to over exfoliation and sensitised skin, so alternate and use on different days.
