About this deal

These delicious biscuits are particularly versatile in terms of their consumption – everybody has a different approach. There is much satisfaction to be garnered from peeling off the top layer of biscuit to reveal the layer of cream. It's probably just me but I remembered Bourbon biscuits as having a stronger chocolate flavour. They actually taste more of cocoa, the biscuit is cocoa flavoured and you can't really taste chocolate in the cream filling either. Not that they aren't nice, I love them just the same. A great classic. The biscuit is crisp and light and the cream in the middle is more than enough! CRAWFORD'S CUSTARD CREAMS 33G: Flour ( WHEAT Flour, Calcium, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin), Sugar, Vegetable Oil (Palm), Whey Solids ( MILK), Glucose Syrup, WHEAT Starch, Raising Agents (Ammonium Bicarbonate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Salt, Natural Flavouring, Colour (Carotenes). I think custard creams are one of the nicest biscuits on the market, the filling takes this treat to the next level.

Custard creams are THE best biscuit in the world - ever! I have never met anyone who doesn't like them and I'm sure that's because that person doesn't actually exist. As such, the powers that be (or rather the biscuit-makers) have seen fit to give its flavour a make-over, replacing its much-loved centre with coconut cream, rhubarb, strawberry and even coffee. These day I no longer drink tea as I prefer coffee and I can say that custard creams are good coffee dunkers too.

The two biscuits are simple, the creamy centre is the perfect compliment to both the taste and texture of the biscuit. Crawfords make a large range of quality biscuits, I had no idea that they have been in the business for over 200 years. Sometime, just like Ian another reviewer like to pull the biscuit apart to enjoy the lovely chocolatey filling, it's wonderful. Other times I just dunk them into a cup of hot tea and enjoy the beautiful flavour of these bourbons. In the UK, we used to always have the large tin, I always went for the bourbons, then custard creams then the pink wafer. You really can't beat them, not overly sweet, just right to compliment the filling perfectly. They're crisp without being hard, great at any time with or without a cup of hot tea.

Crawfords Bourbon Creams are a perfect accompaniment during afternoon tea. Whenever I am offered a plate of biscuits or a tin of tasty biscuits, I can't pass these up. My tastebuds tend to gravitate towards the creamy chocolate fondant centre sandwiched between two chocolate flavoured biscuits. I've loved these sweet treats since my childhood and I'll never get tired of them. Collingham, Lizzie (2020). The Biscuit. The History of a Very British Indulgence. Random House. ISBN 9781473573468. It started as a Scottish baker of ship's biscuits in a public house on The Shore, Leith in 1813. The bakery was acquired by Robert Mathie in 1817 and then William Crawford in 1856, when Mathie retired. William Crawford & Sons established large factories in Leith and Liverpool so that, at its peak, it was one of Britain's largest biscuit manufacturers and claimed to be its oldest. The company was acquired by United Biscuits in 1960 and is now a brand within their portfolio. Basic Biographical Details: Alexander Hunter Crawford". Dictionary of Scottish Architects . Firm but not too hard, the biscuit should crumble in the mouth for a satisfying bite but be robust enough to stand up to some serious dunking. Most popular with customers in France, United States of America (USA), Italy, Germany, Canada, Spain, Sweden, Greece and Netherlands, but you can buy Tasties Custard Creams for delivery worldwide. I totally agree with a five star review here. Crawford's Custard Cream biscuits are excellent value for money, everyday biscuits. Creamy custard flavoured center between two crisp shortbread biscuits. I don't usually dunk a cream filled biscuit but custard creams are an exception. The custard filling does not melt and ruin your hot drink and it becomes even more creamy. Definitely a five star biscuit.
