a b Yossman, K.J. (28 February 2022). "Jessica Brown Findlay, Anthony Welsh Set for U.K. Paramount Plus Series 'Flatshare' ". Variety . Retrieved 4 March 2022. There is definitely a gap in the market for a new streaming series about being a twentysomething London enduring the city’s maddening rental market… and Flatshare could well be that show.

The Flatshare is a British comedy drama series based on Beth O'Leary's 2019 novel of the same name. The series was developed by 42 in association with VIS for Paramount+. It premiered on 1 December 2022. Interlude of chanting]: I am trying to be less cynical. I can be a cynical person without just being a cynic. I can let nice things happen if other people like them. Disney World is a viable place to go on holiday as an adult. I am trying to be less cynical, I am trying to be less cynical. It’spartly directed by The Full Monty filmmaker Peter Cattaneo andis filming in Bristol, London and Brighton. MaryK: Oh, I adored Tiffy. I loved her quirky sense f style and how much she loved her job and how good she was at it. I loved her openness and the way it was contrasted with Leon’s personality. I loved her kindness to him and to Richie. And her fragility with regard to Justin resonated with me. Not that i didn’t love Leon too—he was great. I listened to it on audio and it took me a bit to really get into the rhytmn of Leon’s speech patterns. BTW, the audio narrators are excellent. Jessica admits to being no stranger to strange flatshares during her student days. "When I was a student in London I saved cash by renting a living room in a shared house,’ she explains. ‘I thought it was a great idea at the time, but it meant everyone was in my bedroom all day long until 10pm! The Flatshare arrives in December 2022. (Image credit: Paramount Plus) Is there a trailer for The Flatshare?

The tone of the novel starts out frothy and light but the storyline becomes more substantial as the books continues. The concept of leaving one another notes without meeting was a wonderful vehicle for a great meet-cute. Better yet, it allowed the characters to get to know each other as people as well as have sexytimes. This novel is a great example of the friends-to-lovers trope. I stayed up until two in the morning while reading because the book was sweet, absorbing and enjoyable. A-. I loved this book. The story unfolds as it goes along and you gradually realize there’s a lot more going on than it seemed at first. I wasn’t all that impressed initially because at the beginning Tiffy seems kind of shallow and flighty. I continued reading because I loved Leon’s POV. He’s an introvert who doesn’t talk a lot and his POV is full of staccato, abbreviated sentences. (They remind me of medical charting which makes sense given his profession.) This may be the first book I’ve read where I identify more with the hero than the heroine. Anthony Welsh, who plays Leon in The Flatshare, says:“I had so much fun making The Flatshare and working with Jessie was a dream. We had such a great cast and crew bringing this world to life and I’m looking forward to sharing our flat with everyone.” I adored this book. I was so curious as to how the author would get the concept to work, but by golly she did it. It was so darned charming.Tiffy is quirky and accepting; for example, she’s tall but open to dating someone shorter (Leon is tall too, though) and nice to the crochet lady. And she is gabby and social and warm. One thing did surprise me: there was no mention of Tiffy’s family until the epilogue, when there’s a reference to something her dad said. I was startled to learn that Tiffy had a living father, and apparently a supportive one at that. Where were you all along? was my thought in response to that.) I knew The Flatshare (Paramount+) was going to be unrealistic when, in the opening scenes, Tiffany moves into her new rented flat and almost immediately bangs a picture hook into the wall. This, I thought, is a woman who has never had to deal with an estate agent’s punitive charges. The flat turns out not to be Tiffany’s, at least not entirely: this is an adaptation of the 2019 novel by Beth O’Leary, and follows an untraditional flatsharing arrangement. Tiffany has the flat from 8pm to 8am and at weekends; she has entered into an agreement with Leon, a night nurse trying to earn extra money for what obviously turns out to be extremely big-hearted reasons, who gets his own flat from 8am to 8pm, and stays with his annoying girlfriend at weekends. The Flatshare is set in London and follows Tiffany (Jessica Brown Findlay) and Leon (Anthony Welsh) are both low earners, struggling to afford somewhere to rent in the Uk capital. Tiffany's been through a bad break-up and needs somewhere fast but cheap. So between them they concoct an ingenious idea to split the costs by sharing a bed.

Leon is a quieter, more introverted person and likes to make decisions slowly, in a thoughtful manner. He doesn’t have Tiffy’s impulsivity or her social nature, but he’s terrific with his patients and later, supportive and understanding of Tiffy. In February 2022, it was announced Jessica Brown Findlay and Anthony Welsh would star as the leads Tiffy and Leon. Also joining the cast were Bart Edwards, Shaq B. Grant, Shaniqua Okwok, and Jonah Hauer-King. [2] Janine: I liked Tiffy once the story got going. It was just in that first part that falls within the Kindle sample that I was skeptical. L. Twomey turns out to be Leon Twomey, a palliative care nurse who has taken the night shifts for the extra pay. Leon needs the money to fund his effort to overturn his younger brother Richie’s unjust conviction of armed robbery. Leon’s girlfriend, Kay, is unhappy about the flats-sharing arrangement but agrees that she can’t continue to loan Leon money to pay the lawyer who’s working on his brother’s appeal. Still, she insists on vetting Tiffy. When she does, she’s relieved to assess her as no threat. But to be on the safe side, Kay insists that Leon and Tiffy never meet. First, what can be noted is the general visual - a pleasant and juicy picture, just like on the cover. Playing Tiffany and Leon are Jessica Brown Findlay ( The Riot Club , Munich: The Edge of War ) and Anthony Welsh ( The Great, Fleabag ) It’ll be a definite change of bathroom size for Brown Findlay, who is best known for playing Lady Sybil Crawley in Downton Abbey. That Jo Jo Moyes comparison couldn’t be more misleading. I’ve never read Moyes but my impression is that she writes tearjerkers. This book as not that. There’s a central love story with a happy ending and emotional justice so its a romance no matter how the publisher is pitching it. Working on The Flatshare and bringing Tiff and Leon to Rom-com life alongside the BRILLIANT Anthony Welsh was a dream come true. We can’t wait for you all to get a set of keys cut and come join us!”

The inspiration for Beth O’Leary’s quirky and clever debut novel came from living with her doctor boyfriend while he worked nights. They never saw each other during this phase of their relationship, yet Beth could tell how her boyfriend was feeling from little clues he left around their apartment, and it made her wonder what it would be like to live with someone you have never met. Jessica Brown Findlay, who plays Tiffany in The Flatshare, says: "Tiff has had her heart broken by her ex-boyfriend when we meet her. She’s still consumed by what was a really toxic relationship, but the more she leaves that behind, the more we see her best qualities.
