Description

Jura Journey is the starting point of the new rage, a NAS scotch produced, as all the range, with a combination of peated and unpeated spirit that will give a slightly peated style. For Jura Journey, the whisky has been aged in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels. It has been bottled at 40% abv, without chill-filtration and no added color. first taste straight out of bottle was a little wersh as many whiskies can be. a little air and a teaspoon of o2 and its transformed. it took many years to make so give it a little time in the glass. I suppose everyone’s palette is different but I found this incredibly salty, harsh and bitter…just like one of my exes. These deliciously smooth and sweet Sherry finished whiskies offer global travelers the opportunity to taste our bright and lively whiskies finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks of varying ages. Soon after, hints of smokey pear and crisp green apples arrive. As you glide towards the finish, you’ll get some bitterness and oaky spice. It is a soft and sweet start that feels like toffee sauce, cloves, and nutmeg. For those who are letting each note wash over them, they’ll get subtle cocoa hits too.

Although the large southern Hebridean island of Jura has always been sparsely populated, it has a fascinating distilling heritage. In the 18th century,it was reported that islanders made spirit from rowan berries, as well as using the bitter fruit to acidulate their whisky punch. In the glass, Jura Journey is pale yellow. On the nose, it is light and herbaceous. Some soft notes of white grape and pear with a slight citrus touch. There is a sweet side full of vanilla and shortbread, with small flashes of peat smoke. The perfect introduction to the Jura range, Journey is light and fruity with a touch of gentle spice. A welcoming and enjoyable single malt. I only bought Old Pulteney because someone said to me that it was rather good while Talisker (recommended by everyone) is even better apparently. Finish: Medium length, gentle peat smoke, lingering oak spices bitterness, dryness, honey and bit of vanilla. The nose and the taste lineup. The taste starts with the soft peat smoke, and then the wave of vanilla washes over you.
