About this deal

is a good price, I would go for them if I were you. The 599 definitely has a deeper and more engaging bass than the 598CS, which was pretty surprising to me. I had the same reaction as you when I got the original 598, very flat and unengaging (even though I wouldn't say they are "flat" if the bass is flat out non-existent, I would say the 598 had a reverse v shape with weak bass and veiled highs). Marketing people always find interesting statements, don’t they? I do see what they mean though and for a whole lot of people who never experienced decent sound this most likely will be the case. The keywords that come in to mind when listening to the HD599 are smooth, engaging and musical and all that in a very possible way. The HD599 simply sounds smooth and is easy to listen to and it to a lot of ears will sound natural with a lovely warmness. Sennheiser achieved to make the HD599 smooth and detailed at the same time and because of that it will please both the new listener as well as the more experienced one. The H599 is a headphone you can perfectly use for watching movies and for listening to music to, it’s a great all-rounder.

Honestly I wonder why these cans aren't more recommended all over the place, these are ridiculously good even at 180€, far better than the 598CS and the classic 598. Even in gaming these are better than the 598 because the soundstage is more precise and more sperical compared to the regular 598 and their tunnel-like soundstage (at least that's what I remember from before I sold the old 598). You make it clear that it’s a really good headphone for movies (true), and are your top brothers (600, 650 ..) good for movies too, or just music? I'm just a bit clueless at which headphone I could give a try as I still want an open headphone (as I can't stand not hearing myself while talking). Also HE4XX that i currently use doesn't have much bass by default, but with some EQ they have it more than enough and its really nice and realistic bass, the sub bass is pretty good ( sounds like my subwoofer, while the 598 for example is artificial af and has pretty much zero sub bass ), but to get the good bass on planars u need good AMP, since its like +12dB ( -12dB preamp ) on low end to compensate the volume. The sound pressure level goes around 106dB, and the total harmonic distortion is set below 0.1%. This is the expected value for the given price. It helps in delivering a clean and crisp sound with ample volume. The amount you pay for these brilliant headphones is justified by each and every specification the company has loaded it with. Specs So if i like natural sound ( specially for vocal and bass with zero enphasize ), this is not for me, right ? The new 650 from the Devialet 120 sounded cold, unexciting and veiled in comparison to another Senn’s I had with me at the time HD 250 Linear II (My Favorite Senn’s till date). Don’t get me wrong, the folks who like that sound signature, love them a lot. But for me it didn’t work as well.

I would go with 6XX or 4XX, 4XX is more flat than 6XX and better for gaming as i know. 6XX should be better for music. Carroll is a headphone junkie residing in Brooklyn. He's a huge fan of Grado, UK hip hop, and the English Language in general. When not testing audio equipment or writing, you'll find him taking photographs or fiddling with circuit boards.Don't give up on your HD600 for gaming just yet. A headphone doesn't need to be 'designed for gaming'. If you read such a thing that is pretty much marketing.
