About this deal

Sam: “We wanted to show Lion El’Jonson’s fighting abilities, as well as the animosity between the Dark Angels and the Night Lords, so we went with a dynamic pose where he is swinging his sword down on the sons of Curze. We also made the figure so he can be equipped with either of his swords, Wolfblade or the Lion Sword, and he comes with the option to go bareheaded, or to wear the legendary Lion Helm. We designed the Leonine Panoply utilising elements of real-world knights’ crusade armour overlaid with Dark Angels iconography and lion motifs.” Jaghatai Khan, Primarch of the White Scars The campaign on One-Five-Four Four is not going well for the Imperial forces, and especially not for Ferrus Manus, primarch of the Iron Hands Legiones Astartes, who is troubled not only by the existence of the weaknesses within, but by the hinderances without as well; the terrain and fluid savagery of the Eldar enemies are taking a toll on his battle-group and placing him behind schedule. Even the latest victory, a battle commanded by his determined First Captain, Gabriel Santar, does not satisfy him, and neither does the proving correct of the Iron Hands' creed; the flesh is weak, at least out in the desert and at least where the attached regiments of the Imperial Army are concerned. Not only is Manus concerned with being behind schedule, and losing face in front of his brothers Mortarion and Vulkan, but the possibility that Eldar witchcraft could be causing his Astartes to under-perform fills him with ire.

Asirnoth - Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum

The weight of the formidable warhammer Forgebreaker was enormous and unbearable for anyone but one of the Emperor’s Astartes. Its haft was the colour of ebony, elaborately worked with threads of gold and silver that formed the shape of a lightning bolt, and the head was carved into the shape of a mighty eagle, its barbed beak forming the striking face and its tapered wings the claw. Anyone who looked upon the mighty warhammer could feel the power radiating from within it and know instinctively that more than just skill had gone into its forging. Love and honour, loyalty and friendship, death and vengeance...all were embodied within its majestic form, and the thought that the Iron Hands Primarch’s sworn honour brother had created this weapon made it truly legendary. Ferrus Manus refuses to answer questions of his experience, claiming that nothing happened that matters. He leads his forces into the jungle, in response to a request from help from Vulkan. In another place entirely, the two Eldar rue their failure, but take solace in the fact that even if the Gorgon falls, there is another who will suit their purpose... And where my hand shall strike, the foes of Mankind shall be laid waste; so shall I be the hammer of the Emperor, and I shall never tire." C'tan Shards can also shape powerful slashing or cutting blades from their bodies at will or shapeshift in such a way that they can appear to be a member of almost any species. If a C'tan Shard's necrodermis body is breached, the C'tan essence is released with a powerful explosion of energy that can damage nearby individuals or structures. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we sat down with the Forge World team to discuss the Primarchs project. Designer Sam Egan was kind enough to talk us through each of the models in turn, and he had oodles of insights into the design process behind this amazing series of miniatures, which started a decade ago with the Red Angel himself. Angron, Primarch of the World Eaters

Honourable Mention: Roboute Guilliman vs Fulgrim

Thousands of planets would fall to the remorseless Iron Hands under Ferrus's leadership. Each weak link in humanity was to be purged if mankind was to grow stronger. Scholars spoke of the wave of piety and faith that spread before the Iron Hands, with many planets suddenly motivated to look into themselves when they heard that the Iron Hands were approaching. During the Great Crusade the Iron Hands battled the Human Diasporex alongside the Emperor's Children. This was symbolic of the bond shared by Ferrus Manus and the Emperor's Children Primarch Fulgrim, who were close friends. [2] However during the Conquest of One-Five-Four Four he received visions from the Eldar alluding to his eventual demise at Fulgrim's hands. Distrustful of the Xenos, Ferrus rejected the prophecy. [11] Sire of the Word Bearers– Lorgar has the Crusader special rule and confers this to any unit he joins , while he is on the table ( not in a transport ) all models with the legiones astartes (Word Bearers) special rule may use his leadership for all morale and pinning tests. As the Daemonic entity was confronted by the Clan Companies Raukaan and Sorrgol in their entirety on Gaudinia Prime, Iron Father Kristos was corrupted, both body and soul. Everywhere, the adherents of Kristos (known as Kristosians) were overcome by the twisted perfection of strange flesh engines -- the harder they attempted to repress their urges with logic, the faster they succumbed. Howling Daemons of Slaanesh burst forth from tears in reality, and set themselves upon the beleaguered Iron Hands. With them came warriors of the Emperor's Children. Amid the madness, the bejewelled Daemon itself strode forth to confront the Iron Hands.

When Manus' hands were coated with a silvery metal that melted from the Silver Wyrm's body, that material was absorbed into his skin and became a part of his body rather than injuring him. This would accord with the way necrodermis has been observed to act by Imperial scholars, though this remains only conjecture. Primarch– ( Independant character , Master of the Legion , Eternal Warrior , Fear , Adamantium Will , Fleet , Fearless , It Will Not Die ) The following information is not to be regarded as officially sanctioned and/ or is not written from an in-universe point of view. A detailed explanation of the term "Trivia" as used in the Lexicanum can be found here. Few Legions learned the lessons of the Horus Heresy as harshly and abruptly as the Iron Hands – but then, no other Legion saw their Primarch cut down by his best mate. Horus’s switch infuriated Ferrus – and when Fulgrim tried to bring him on side, the two former friends came to blows. The primarch of the Iron Hands has decided that the best way to get the Emperor’s attention is to show Him he can do things better than his brothers. A wonderful opportunity opens up on the non-compliant system of the Gardinaal. A few companies of the Thousand Sons and Ultramarines are having great difficulty in bringing this civilization to heel, and they’ve called upon the Iron Hands to help them out before Roboute Guilliman arrives. Guilliman is several weeks away, whereas Ferrus is only days out. He’s supposed to hold things together for the Ultramarines while they wait for their primarch, but Ferrus has other ideas. He’s going to bring this system under compliance before Roboute arrives.

Originally known as the Storm Walkers [31] or Stormwalkers, [22a] the legion was created during the latter days of the Unification Wars on Terra. Recruitment bases at this time were spread widely all across the planet, but the warlike cultures of Albia in particular provided effective initiates for the Legion. The Legion's first instance of recorded combat was in the Sol system against a Mutant warband known as Scythers. Shortly thereafter they exterminated the Xenos Lyasx on the world of Oberath. While the Legion was victorious in both actions, they did not yet seem to specialize in any area of warfare. It was only during the invasion of the Ork-held Planet 02-34 (designated 'Rust') that the Legion's effectiveness in utilizing slow-moving mass firepower became apparent. [21a] Ferrus Manus

In Codex Supplement: Iron Hands (8th Edition) it is stated that Kardan Stronos exists as the official Chapter Master, but like his predecessors was elected by the Iron Council. It is stated that the Iron Hands Chapter Master does not serve for life. [53e]Invasion of the Stygius Sector — In what becomes known as the Iron Crusade, the Iron Hands are joined by many successor chapters such as the Sons of Medusa, Fire Lords, Silver Skulls, Brazen Claws, and Iron Lords. They manage to hold Mordian from Chaos assault and are continuing to battle traitors throughout the Sector. [53h] The Primarch of what would later officially become the Iron Hands, Ferrus Manus (also known as "The Gorgon"), was among the first of the Emperor's sons to be rediscovered. [21a] The early history of Ferrus Manus is chronicled in the folklore of Medusa. The most popular of these tales is the " Canticle of Travels", which details the trials of Ferrus Manus and his ordeal with the Great Silver Wyrm known as Asirnoth. The Canticle is the only tale that even attempts to explain the mystery of how Ferrus Manus came by his living metal hands. Ferrus Manus never united the people of his homeworld in the way most of the other Primarchs had, on the basis that competition grew greater strength. When the Emperor eventually came to Medusa, Ferrus Manus tested himself against him as well in a cataclysmic battle that is said to have lain waste to entire mountains. Finally having found someone his equal, Ferrus accepted the Emperor as his master and took command of the X Legion of Space Marines, which was renamed the Iron Hands in his honor. [21a] Years later that special infant, named Ferrus Manus ( High Gothic for "Iron Hand") by the Medusans, walked unscathed and already fully grown from the uninhabited mountain ranges of the far northern wastes where the Ice Pinnacle lay. The legends of the roaming clans, taught from father to son throughout the ages, revolve around the early exploits of Ferrus, who came to be regarded as a great warrior amongst the nomadic clans of Medusa. Much about the formative years of Ferrus Manus on Medusa remains unknown, not so much through any deliberate veil of secrecy perhaps, but because what was later retold by the Medusans themselves was filtered through the barbaric folk-memory of their culture, while the Gorgon himself was taciturn on the matter to any save the Emperor. There have been many who have studied the formative situations of the Primarchs who have drawn parallels between the conditions in which Vulkan found himself on Nocturne and Ferrus Manus encountered on Medusa; both were found on savage, barren worlds riven by hostile conditions and both were home to primitive cultures, long cut off from the rest of Mankind during the Age of Strife. But beyond these surface features, the two worlds and, in particular, those who dwelled upon them could not have been more different. Sam: “ Dorn is in a very stoic, ‘none shall pass’ pose, which conveys the idea of him being the last line of defence for Terra. He stands defiant against the enemies of the Imperium, with his hands on the pommel of his chainblade, Storm’s Teeth. The bulk of the design was taken from John Blanche and Neil Roberts’ artwork, and his Auric Armour is based on Mk IV plate adorned with Imperial eagles and Imperial Fists iconography.” Alpharius, Primarch of the Alpha Legion Ferrus' hands were covered in the metallic substance known as necrodermis and he needed no hammer or flame to create beauty through metallurgy, using only his exceptionally powerful hands to mold and shape molten metal. Ferrus forged his closest bond with his brother Fulgrim, but this relationship ultimately ended in tragedy after Fulgrim fell to Chaos during the Horus Heresy.

The second wave of "Loyalist" Space Marine Legions descended upon the landing zone on the northern edge of the Urgall Depression. Hundreds of Stormbirds and Thunderhawks roared towards the surface, their armoured hulls gleaming as the power of another four Astartes Legions arrived on Isstvan V. Yet the Space Marine Legions of the reserve were no longer loyal to the Emperor, having already secretly sworn themselves to Chaos and the cause of Horus. The Night Lords of Konrad Curze, the Iron Warriors of Perturabo, the Word Bearers of Lorgar, and the Alpha Legion of Alpharius represented a force larger than that which had first begun the assault on Isstvan V. The secret Traitor Legions mustered in the landing zone, armed and ready for battle, unbloodied and fresh.

Still here? You’ve got a good head on your shoulders, and it’s earned you a rare privilege – getting cosy with the galaxy’s most indomitable warriors in the latest entry of our neutral and even-handed coverage of the Legiones Astartes. Let’s hope you can keep up – there are no medals for second place.* With thousands of worlds falling beneath his advance and a devoted Legion of Space Marines who revered his every example, everything was coming up Ferrus Manus. And then… Isstvan. Later during the Heresy as Horus fell deeper and deeper into Chaos and his mental state perhaps began to deteriorate, he took the skull of Ferrus Manus, mounted it on his throne, and began to increasingly speak to it. During their one-sided conversations, Horus lamented that he only had bloody-handed tyrants, mass murderers, and daemons for his generals instead of strategists and men of duty like Ferrus. [9] After the events of Isstvan V, the battered remnants of the Iron Hands came together with the Salamanders and Raven Guard to form the Shattered Legions – a band of whom faced the newly-emergent horrors of the warp in The Damnation of Pythos . Ferrus Manus also led the bravest warriors of the clans to delve into the frozen realms below, breaking open long-sealed vaults and intruding into ice-buried fragments of the great machine-works that had plunged from the skies in ancient days in search of salvage and strong metal. In the depths, the warrior-bands and the silver-eyed giant who led them fought degenerate mutants, living-dead cyborgs whose decayed flesh hung in tatters from corroded metal bodies, and subdued the dark-engines of the nightmare ages that had gone before to take their plunder. By the time the Emperor had come to claim him for the Great Crusade, Ferrus Manus was warlord, demi-god and sage to the people of Medusa, and it is said that he was waiting, and that he more than half-suspected the true purpose of his creation.
