Situated right across the street from Oxford train station, The Red Lion is one of the oldest pubs in town. Built in 1690, it offers a charming atmosphere with plenty of natural light, old-grained wood furniture and an inviting outdoor seating area. Those looking for vegan food in Oxford will be excited to hear there’s a veggie pub in Oxford with local, seasonal food. The Punter is a new Oxford gastropub in Osney Mead beside the Thames. There are outdoor tables where you can enjoy a pint with views of the river. Keep following this road until you come to a group of houses and in the middle of that group on the left is the pub.

Royal Pub Crawl

In the year of the Gunpowder Plot it was kept by John Davenant and it was during this time Shakespeare paid his frequent visits to Oxford. You should definitely give The Bear Inn a visit if you’re looking for a traditional English pub experience in Oxford – and you can even turn it into an evening pub crawl! First up is a Jericho pub with a terrific atmosphere, delicious food, and a wide selection of drinks. The team members are welcoming, and the service is reportedly excellent. Your afternoon, evening, or night crawl will get off to a great start if you begin here. This route will take around 30 minutes to walk in total, but no more than 10 minutes between each. Of course it will take a fair bit longer considering you stop at each of these great drinking spots. We wish everyone who attempts this challenge to have a great day out.
