Held at Wembley's Empire Pool, in north-west London, this was the last concert that the Beatles played before a paying audience in the United Kingdom. [52] Marszalek, Julian (31 October 2012). "Prophets, Seers & Sages: Tony Visconti's Favourite Albums". The Quietus . Retrieved 24 June 2017.

During the same photo shoot, Whitaker took pictures of the Beatles examining orange transparencies of his "butcher cover" design for Yesterday and Today. [301] The latter image proved instantly controversial in America due to its depiction of dismembered baby dolls and raw meat. [302] [303] Title [ edit ] With Revolver, the Beatles finally took the time to untether themselves from their past. They got a rare break from touring and moviemaking, catching their breath between tokes and trips. When they finally reconvened at Abbey Road, the first thing they recorded, strangely, was Lennon’s acid bath “Tomorrow Never Knows,” then known as “Mark I.” Beatlemaniacs have already heard the sleepy, eerie first take of the song on Anthology 2, also included here, but in the context of the Revolver box, it’s stunning how the tune (more of a meditation really) with its dolorous, unchanging base loop (which sounds a bit like a cello with emphysema) was nearly fully formed at its onset. Lennon’s lyrics, kind of an interdimensional blues ripped from Timothy Leary’s interpretation of the Tibetan Book of the Dead, still sound ominous and anything but cute. The sixteen-disc collection contains the remastered stereo versions of every album in the Beatles catalogue. The first four albums ( Please Please Me, With the Beatles, A Hard Day's Night and Beatles for Sale) made their CD debut in stereo, though most songs from those albums have previously appeared on CD in stereo on various compilations. Both Help! and Rubber Soul use the remixes prepared by George Martin for the original 1987 CD releases (the original 1965 stereo mixes were released on The Beatles in Mono). Magical Mystery Tour is presented in the sequence and artwork of its original North American Capitol Records album release, as opposed to the UK six-song EP. Exact production numbers for the "red target" Revolver album have never been officially determined, although most documented sources indicate very low productions figures that range from a couple of thousand to less than a hundred......with some sources suggesting only a handful of copies were pressed ! ....Whatever the 'actual' number, very few still exist today.....and even fewer ever turn up for sale.
